Are Spiders Crawling and Creeping You Out?

Spiders are a very common insect found in Texas. There are over ten thousand species found worldwide. Many of these insects, such as the Wolf Spider, have venomous bites. However, for the most part, they are more annoying than harmful.

Most spider bites are not harmful to people, and those who are bitten only experience mild discomfort. In a few rare cases involving older adults and young children a spider bite can induce an allergic reaction, however only a few spiders like Black Widows and Brown Recluse spiders are known to have toxic venom that may cause medical problems. The best course of action is to seek medical treatment for any bite that results in prolonged discomfort or pain.

How do spiders get in your home?

Spiders typically enter the home through gaps around door and window frames or through poorly screened, open windows. Another common point of entry is by hitchhiking on boxes or other outdoor items. They typically enter your home looking for prey, such as other spiders, insects, or any other prey that can be subdued.
